Mocha Truffles by mistake

So I made mocha truffles yesterday by accident.

By the way do not use Peanut Free Mars Bars to temper chocolate. The results are not what you are looking for. However, I would use the same process to temper chocolate for a Mars Bar since I came to have my own new Mocha Truffle recipe.

First off make your cookie dough. I will also post how to make the cookie dough here so you don’t have to print 3 different pages:

Ingredients for Cookie Dough:

  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup of regular milk
  • 1/2 cup semisweet mini chocolate chips or chopped up milk chocolate or honey toasted oats
**Toasted Oats give the truffles a nice crunch if that is what you are looking for

Ingredients for Chocolate Coating:

**Extra ingredients optional: Espresso or Instant Coffee.

1. In a large bowl cream butter and brown sugar with an electric mixer at medium speed until creamy. Add vanilla. Gradually beat in flour and add a little milk to get a more rich dough and easier to mix as well.

2. Melt the Mars Chocolate bars.  By mistake some water also fell into the pot while I was trying to temper the Mars choclate and actually helped the chocolate melt easier.

3. Once your chocolate is melted and you will see it is easy to mold even with your hands, take some of the cookie dough and melted chocolate and roll into a ball. You will see that you get a nice marble chocolate ball.

4. Refrigerate for about an hour or so.

5. The balls will be good as is and you taste the Mars bar for sure, but if you are looking to have a coffee taste, you can always roll the balls in espresso or instant coffee powder to get a mocha chocolate taste.
